Tipping

PUNTERS TIPPING competition

Tips are entered for each match in a round. The tipper selects 1 of 8 options for each match.

This includes 4 options for each team (8 options in total):

  • * High margin (e.g. 13+ for NRL) - points are awarded if the tipper selects the winning team and margin range

  • * Lower margin (e.g. 1-12 for NRL) - points are awarded if the tipper selects the winning team and margin range

  • * Line or handicap where a given start is taken into consideration for the chosen team - points are awarded if the tipper selects the winning team taking the handicap into consideration

  • * Win or head-to-head - points are awarded if the tipper selects the winning team

  • * The price that appears on the tipping screen against the chosen option is taken as the score for a winning selection. For example if a tipper selected the winning team's margin and it was paying $4.30 when tips were submitted for this team, the tipper will score 4.3 for the match.

  • * If prices are not available when tips are entered, the tipper will receive the starting price as per BOOKMAKER, for the option selected if the tip is successful.

  • If a tipper does not submit a tip for a game they do not recieve any points.


For NRL tipping competitions

  • * Head-to-head are determined after Golden Point extra time is completed, if it is still a draw after Golden Point then the tipper gets 1 point.

  • * Line selections are determined after Golden Point extra time.

  • * Margin selections is determined after regular play (80 minutes) has completed (i.e it is NOT determined from Golden Point extra time)

Standard POINTS competition

Tips are entered for each match in a round. 1 point is awarded for tipping the winner of the match.

A bonus 5 points are awarded for tipping a perfect round.

For NRL tipping, If the match is a draw at full time, points are awarded for selecting the winner of the golden point play off. If it is still a draw after golden point no points are awarded for the game.

For all other sporting competitions if the match is a draw at full time, no points are awarded for tips in the match.

Standard PRICING competition

Tips are entered for each match in a round. The prize that appears on the tipping screen against a team is taken as the score for tipping the winner of the match (at full time). For example if the winning team was paying $2.30 when tips were submitted for this team, the tipper will score 2.3 for the match.

If the match is a draw at full time, no points are awarded.

If prices are not posted when tips are entered, the tipper will receive the starting price for the team tipped, as per TomWaterhouse.com.

Can I enter different tips for different competitions?

You can enter different tips for price and points competitions. However, if you are playing multiple points or multiple prices competitions your tips will apply to all competitions for these respective competition types.

Missed Tips

What happens if I miss a tip?

Punters Tipping Game

If you are playing the Punters game and if a tipper does not submit a tip for a game they do not recieve any points.

Points or Prices Games

If you are playing the Points or Prices game. The away team is awarded for tips missed.

What happens if I miss tips for a complete round?

If a tipper does not submit any tips for a round then they do not receive points for the first winning tip in that round.

How can I see who has not entered tips for a round?

Click RANK & INFO corresponding to the tipping competition that you wish to enquire about, then click the TIPPERS tab. Select the missed tips drop down to display those tippers who have not entered tips for the current round.

What price do I get when tipping in a PRICE competition before prices are set?

If prices are not posted when tips are entered, the tipper will receive the starting price for the team tipped, as per TomWaterhouse.com.

What happens to my score if I miss a complete round of tipping ?

If a tipper does not submit any tips for a round then they do not receive points for the first winning tip in that round.

Paying competition fees online

What happens to fees that are paid online?

All fees are held for your competition ready for distribution in full to the prize winners.

What online payment methods are available?

Tippers can pay using VISA and MasterCard.

Can I play a competition set up with an online entry fee without paying when I join the competition?

No. Users who wish to join a competition which has an online entry fee must pay as part of the competition join process. The competition manager can set-up a competition without initially paying their competition entry fee, however they must pay the entry fee before the competition start date in order to play in the competition..

How secure is the online payment service?

We use SecurePay as our online pament provider. SecurePay are one of the safest online payment processing providers in the world. Read more at

Are all fees collected online paid out in prizes in my competition?

Yes. All competition fees collected are paid to winners of the competition in full. The total of all the competition fees collected online makes up your prize pool. All of your prize pool is distributed to winners online as per the percentages set when the competition was started.

A small additional charge is added to the competition fee for credit card fees. This amount is 0.65c and is paid to the payment process provider. The credit card transaction fee does not go into the prize pool.

How do I set an online competition entry fee for my competition?

Simply click COMPETITIONS > START COMP in the top menu bar and follow the prompts. You will be asked what you want to set your competition fee to be and the prize percentages to allocate towards 1st, 2nd, 3rd and mid season prizes. If you do not wish to provide any of these prizes then allocate 0% to the prize type.

What is the credit card transaction fee?

This fee is passed on from our online credit card processing provider. The fee is 0.65c.

Paying prizes online

How are prize payments made online?

An email is sent to the winning tipper's email address provided in their payment details. The tipper follows the prompts to claim their prize. The tipper can choose to direct the funds to their bank account.

If I am the Competition Manager how do I get oversite of who is paid what money?

The PRIZES tab in RANK & STATS shows all the prizes on offer within a competition and a leader board corresponding to the prize so that tippers can track who is leading. When a prize has been won the tippers details will show along side the prize amount. The Competition Manager can check the leader board to ensure that the prize was correctly awarded and then authorise payment. The winning tipper will then be notified with a link to claim their prize.

The PRIZE tab will be updated with a status to indicate when the Payment has been authorised, when the winning tipper has been notified and when payment has been sent and received.

What happens if the Competition Manager does not authorise payment of my prize?

If a prize has not been authorised within 10 days of the prize being awarded, theGreatFootyTipOff.com will automatically send a prize claim notice to the winning tipper.

How are prize winners determined ?

Prize winners are those tippers that achieve the prize goal established by the Competition Manager when they set up the competition. Their are four types of competition prizes.

First (entire competition) - the tipper that scores the most points

Second (entire competition) - the tipper that score the second most points

Third (entire competition) - the tipper that scores the third most points

Mid Season compeitions - tippers who score the most points between certain rounds within the competition. Starting and ending rounds for mid season competitions are detailed in the Prizes area.

If the Competition Manager does not allocate any of the prize pool to a particilar competition prize type, there is no prize offered or paid for that prize type. For example if 0% of the prize pool is allocated to Third place then there is not third place prize.

What bonus prizes are offered?

If you have chosen to see wagering options and are 18 years of age or older, you will offered a bonus of 100% of your prize in betting vouchers if you choose to transfer your prize to a TomWaterhouse.com betting account.

"Free to join" competitions

How do I start a competition that doesn't require online entry fees to be paid?

To start a "Free to Join" competition select NO Online Fee in the Fees and Prizes screen when starting a tipping competition. Tippers who join a competition in this way are not required to pay an entry fee online to join.

Can I still enter in a fee and prize description if I do not collect entry fees and distribute prizes online?

You can enter text to describe the competition entry fee that you wish to collect offline and details about prizes that you are offering to the winners of the competition.

Is there any cost for using theGreatFootyTipOff.com?

There is no cost for using theGreatFootyTipOff.com. You will only incur credit card charges if you choose to pay your competition entry fee online.

Tipping close / lock-out

When does tipping close?

Tips can be entered up to advertised start time for a particular match. After the advertised start time has passed, tips for the match cannot be entered or changed.

Update / Change tips

How do I update tips that I have entered and saved ?

For a points tipping competition tippers will see an UPDATE button above the selections they submitted for a round. By clicking the UPDATE button the tipper can change tips for matches that are not past their advertised start time.

Up till when can I change the tips that I have entered for a competition?

For a Standard Tipping (POINTS) competition, tips can be entered up to advertised start time of the game. After the advertised start time has passed tips, for the game cannot be entered or changed.

For Standard Tipping (PRICES), similar to a bet, tips cannot be changed once they are submitted.

Communicating

How do I send a message to the Competition Manager?

Tippers can send an internal email to the competition Manager by going to RANK & STATS for a particular competition and then clicking the COMMUNICATE tab.

How do I send a message to the tippers in the competition I am managing?

Competition Managers can email individual tippers, tippers who have not tipped in the current round or all tippers in the competition, by going to RANK & STATS for a particular competition and then clicking the COMMUNICATE tab.
